A variety of methods can be used to remove redundant line marking. Sydney Paint Stripping can apply a range of different techniques to remove unwanted lines.  We use the following four methods:

High Pressure Water Blasting

The process involves wet sand blasting the surface to remove the existing line marking. Any waste is then cleaned away.

Blacking/ Greying Out

Using black or grey line marking paint to cover up existing line marking is the most cost-effective way to cover unwanted line marking. This is considered more of a temporary solution, as the paint will eventually wear away showing the lighter colours below.

Concrete Surface Grinding

Surface grinding is the primary method of removing paint on all smooth concrete surfaces, prior to line painting. Surface grinding can be performed indoors, leaving surfaces looking new. Outdoors, we recommend water blasting, so the contrast doesn’t look as noticeable prior to installation of line marking.

When old lines on existing concrete are removed using surface grinding (essential prior to new line painting), at first it might not look pristine, but over time it blends in becoming unnoticeable. After grinding, we recommend water blasting the surface, so the initial contrast is not so distracting, prior to renewing the line marking.

It is important to remember that line marking on concrete at first looks very distinctive, but over time it starts to blend in becoming unnoticeable. This is why you need line marking renewed frequently.

Scarifying

A scarifier is used to remove most coatings from bitumen surfaces prior to new road line marking taking place. The tungsten tips of the scarifier are designed to aggressively erode the surface, leaving a rough finish that is gradually smoothed by vehicular traffic over time. This process can be dust free through the connection of a dust extractor system.

Our modern grinding and scarifying equipment is perfect for removal of painted lines on concrete or bitumen surfaces in warehouses, transport facilities, factory floors, car parks, airport hangers and hard stand yards. In addition to line marking removal, we also remove logos, directional signage, safety messages – anything painted onto concrete or bitumen we can grind off for you.

Our line marking removals include:
